Jenn first got involved through yoga, dogs, and a good friend who introduced her to the organization, and has now been a part of the SOS family since 2020! After attending a few SOS fundraisers, she knew she wanted to dig in a little deeper and make a difference.

Following the loss of her first dog, Jenn felt inspired to help other pups in need. She and her partner, Steve, opened their home (and hearts!) to fostering, and that’s when Tig came along and stole the show. Once Tig decided they were his forever humans, Jenn looked for new ways to keep supporting SOS. With her background as a large-scale retail manager and her talent for coordinating people and pups, the On-site Coordinator role was a perfect fit. Later, when the need arose for a new Merch Pickup Location, Jenn didn’t hesitate to raise her paw and help there, too.

Sara’s journey from corporate marketing pro to marketing tech consultant has been anything but ruff. She now spends her days helping clients navigate the world of AI, automation, and systems with the same dedication she brings to rescue dogs.

Growing up in a rescue-loving family, Sara’s heart has always belonged to pups in need. She started fostering with her partner in 2016 and foster failed twice; first on SOS alum Bala in 2017, and then again on Bullies in Need alum Quincey in 2020. This year, Sara and her husband made it official, giving Bala and Quincey the country backyard of their dreams, complete with an acre to roam and plenty of sniff-worthy spots.

Over the years, Sara has worn just about every volunteer hat at Save Our Scruff. From fostering and dogsitting to transporting pups, and most recently, she’s been the paws-itively amazing manager of the Tracker Program, helping keep tails wagging all over the place.

Fun fact: Sara’s secret superpower is teaching AI to fetch… well, almost.

Naomi officially joined the Scruff fam in 2022 when she adopted her pup Tabby and it was love at first leash. After experiencing Save Our Scruff’s thoughtful, heart-led approach to matching dogs with their forever homes, she knew she wanted to get more involved.

By day, Naomi works as a land use planning lawyer, helping to shape cities, neighbourhoods, and communities, and she brings that same dedication to building a better world for both people and pups. She’s also a passionate advocate for 2SLGBTQIA+ causes and is proud to be part of an organization that shares her values of inclusion, compassion, and community care.

In her spare time, you’ll find Naomi and Tabby hitting the trails, hitting the books at the library, or cheering on the Toronto Sceptres.

Fun fact: Tabby has excellent taste in sports teams and even better taste in snacks.

Jess has been team rescue since day one, growing up with adopted pups gave her a lifelong love for second chances. Now, as a proud Scruff paw-rent herself, she’s thrilled to give back to the organization that brought so much joy and tail-wagging love into her life.

In her day job, Jess works as a Creative Director in PR, where she blends big ideas with strategic thinking and she’s excited to bring that same creative spark to the Save Our Scruff board. Whether it’s spreading awareness, strengthening the brand, or championing adoption, she’s here to help SOS make an even bigger paw-print.

Fun fact: Jess fully believes it’s rude not to smile at a dog. Her dog agrees.

Taylor’s journey with Save Our Scruff started in 2016 when she signed up as a transport volunteer, the perfect way to combine her love of animals with her drive to give back. Since then, she’s been riding shotgun on the road to rescue, helping countless pups take their first steps toward forever.

By day, Taylor works in consulting as a data strategist (aka she’s got brains and heart). Before channeling her energy into helping scruffy pups, she spent years empowering women in tech proving she’s no stranger to building stronger communities, whether human or canine.

When she’s not crunching numbers or advocating for dogs, Taylor’s off hiking trails, hopping countries, or sniffing out her next big adventure.

Lee is a nonprofit communications pro with a paw-ssion for helping mission-driven organizations grow, thrive, and make an impact, and yes, he always uses his powers for good (especially when dogs are involved).

Lee first crossed paths with Save Our Scruff in March 2021 when he adopted his four-legged best friend, Tony, all the way from Jamaica. It was love at first woof. Since then, he’s been proud to support SOS’s mission of creating a better future for dogs and the communities that care for them.

Lee brings heart and know-how to the SOS Board helping amplify the voices of rescue dogs who deserve to be heard (and cuddled).

Scott has always had a soft spot for scruffy pups and second chances. Since moving to Toronto in 2017, he’s been a quiet admirer of Save Our Scruff until 2025, when he decided it was time to turn his paw-ssion into action and joined the SOS Board of Directors.

With a background in governance, strategy, and organizational leadership (plus some legal smarts tucked under his collar), Scott brings a tail-wagging amount of experience to the boardroom. Before SOS, he helped guide a Calgary nonprofit supporting mental health, where he led strategic planning and advocacy efforts — proving he’s got both bark and bite when it comes to driving meaningful change.

When he’s not lending his skills to SOS or championing better lives for dogs, you can find Scott exploring Toronto’s east end, catching up with friends and family, or making new four-legged pals at every opportunity. (He’s been known to offer expert-level belly rubs and ear scratches — just ask any pup he’s met!)

Fun fact: Scott’s dream retirement plan includes a house full of rescue dogs and a backyard that doubles as a fetch paradise. Paw-sibilities are endless!

Jen’s love for animals started on a hobby farm in Ontario, where she grew up surrounded by horses, chickens, and a tail-wagging pack of loyal farm dogs. From an early age, she knew that caring for animals was more than just a phase — it was her fur-ever calling.

After moving to Toronto about 20 years ago, Jen turned her love for dogs into a career, running her own dog walking business and working in a pet supply store (aka heaven on earth for dog lovers). But she didn’t stop there — her passion led her back to school to become a veterinary technician, and she’s been working in vet med ever since. Now, as Hospital Director at a busy emergency and specialty practice, Jen advocates every day for paws-itively top-notch care for animals in need.

Throughout her career, Jen has built strong partnerships between veterinary hospitals and rescue organizations, always going the extra mile (or tail wag) to support animals waiting for their second chance. In 2025, she joined the Save Our Scruff Board to deepen her impact and help more dogs find their way home — one adoption tail at a time.

Fun fact: Jen still dreams of a farm filled with rescue animals — but for now, she’s happy being the go-to “dog mom” among friends and coworkers.

Tria joined SOS in 2024, inspired by her own experience rescuing a senior scruff after discovering the organization on social media. Now serving as an Adoption Coordinator, Tria’s passion for animals, especially dogs, drives her to find the perfect forever homes for every deserving scruff in their care.

Her personal journey with senior scruffs has deepened her commitment and confidence in matching pups with loving families. Supported by her dedicated team and several successful adoptions, Tria truly knows she’s making a pawsitive impact.

When she’s not coordinating adoptions, Tria works as a barista, fueling her days with an impressive amount of coffee. She also enjoys creative pursuits like painting and drawing. At home, she shares her life with two “scruffs trapped in cat bodies,” Mister and Bill, proof that love for animals comes in all shapes and sizes!

Lili began volunteering with SOS in 2023 as a foster and quickly paw-sitioned herself as a Scruff Advisor. Her journey started by fostering and adopting Winnie, followed by fostering and adopting Bella, Winnie’s daughter. Combining her personal experience with her full-time work as a professional dog trainer, she now helps new fosters get off on the right paw by offering training, guidance, and virtual support to pups and their humans.

When she’s not volunteering, Lili enjoys taking her three Huskies, Lady, Winnie, and Bella, on adventures, sniffing out dog-friendly events, and playing Frisbee. Life is always a tail-wagging good time for her and her pack.

Laura joined SOS in 2024 after discovering the organization on social media while searching for a dog to adopt. That search led to Gigi, a beagle scruff who quickly became the perfect companion and sparked a desire to give back. Inspired by the joy Gigi brought into her life, Laura became a volunteer to help other scruffs find their furever homes.

Since adopting Gigi, she has dedicated her time to learning about dog behaviour and training, completing professional training, diving into resources provided by SOS, and consuming articles and podcasts about dogs in her spare time. Her personal experience navigating behavioural challenges with Gigi, along with her growing knowledge, made her a great fit for the Scruff Counsellor role. She credits the incredible support from the SOS team as a key part of her journey and success in the role.

Outside of SOS, she enjoys going to the gym, spending time with her dogs, reading, skiing, and relaxing with her family at the cottage.

Fun Fact: She lived in Amsterdam for a few years and learned some (very) basic Dutch!

Micaela has always been paws-itively dedicated to animals, and their journey with SOS began in 2015 as a casual volunteer and foster. After fostering their second dog, a scruff-tacular success, they discovered the true meaning of being a "paw-rent" and decided to take their commitment to the next level. This led them to become a Scruff Counsellor in 2022, where they now help guide families through the heartwarming journey of dog adoption. It’s a role that brings them barking joy every day, as they get to witness the magic of finding forever homes for so many lovable pups.

Outside of SOS, Micaela is all about dog fun! Whether it's attending dog events, competing in dog sports, or enjoying dog-friendly outings, dogs are at the heart of everything they do. When they’re not surrounded by their four-legged friends, they occasionally crochet, usually making something paw-some for dogs.

Fun fact: Micaela has Italian citizenship! Maybe that’s where their bark-a-loni spirit comes from!

As an Adoption Coordinator at SOS, Rachel brings a deep passion for animal rescue and a commitment to the "adopt, don't shop" philosophy. Their personal experience with rescue pets, particularly their own dog, George Michael, has fueled their drive to help connect animals with loving homes. A firm believer in the power of volunteering and donating to causes that matter, they’re dedicated to making a positive impact on the lives of animals and people alike.

When they’re not working with SOS, Rachel juggles multiple roles in the sports and events industry, and enjoys spending time cooking, adventuring, and enjoying concerts and theatre with their boyfriend and George Michael, their rescue pup. A fun fact? Rachel and their boyfriend have decided to continue naming all their pets after deceased celebrities, keeping the spirit of George Michael alive in their home.

Alexa joined SOS in 2024. As an all-around animal lover, she wanted to lend a paw (or hand!) to animal welfare. She sniffed out SOS on social media and felt the messaging was just the right fit to use her skills for the furrier members of our community. She brings her business operations, relationship management, and streamlining expertise to her role as Volunteer Manager, where she's helping to build capacity, manage teams, and implement strategies. 

Outside of SOS, Alexa is a real page-turner, a podcast aficionado, and a pop culture vulture. When she's not busy with all that, she enjoys getting her sweat on in hot yoga and exploring new places (because everyone deserves a good walkies, even humans!).

Eva came to Save Our Scruff in 2019, inspired by a friend's adoption story. Seeking a part-time opportunity to work with dogs, she began her journey as a foster parent. Through her experiences fostering over 20 dogs, Eva gained the confidence and skills to pursue a professional career in dog training. She now serves as a Scruff counselor, sharing her expertise and passion with the SOS community.

Outside of Save Our Scruff, Eva enjoys canicrossing with her dog and indulging her creative side by making homemade ice cream.

Fun fact: during the pandemic, Eva turned her passion into a successful business, generating nearly $15,000 in homemade ice cream sales.

One minute Caitlin was scrolling through cute dog videos, and the next thing she knew, she was volunteering for SOS faster than you can say "fetch"! Caitlin was inspired to take a role where she could combine her love for her canine companion Winston with her passion for fashion. Now, she's the mastermind ensuring SOS carries the hottest dog-merch around. 

When she's not busy turning adoption advocates into runway models, you can find Caitlin serving aces on the tennis court, spinning clay into paw-some masterpieces, or embarking on stylish adventures with Winston. 

BRAIDEN joined Save Our Scruff in 2020 as our first-ever Intern. While completing her master’s in Peace and Conflict Studies, she went looking for an impactful non-profit organization to work with, and she found the perfect opportunity at Save Our Scruff. While she was an intern, she worked one-on-one with Executive Director Jenna, learning the ins and outs of the rescue. That experience led to her current role as Community Engagement Coordinator.

Outside of Save Our Scruff, you can find Braiden cooking and baking up a storm, or shocking herself and others with how insanely double-jointed she is. 

LAURA came to Save Our Scruff in 2021 as Social Media Support. While fostering for another rescue, she found a passion for telling a dog's story on social media and making people fall in love with a pup through photos and videos. When a neighbour recommended she check out Save Our Scruff, she offered her social support and the rest is history! She brought with her a background in event planning, teaching and working for non-profits. In her current role, she plays a part in helping our followers fall in love with the scruffs we share on social. 

 Outside of Save Our Scruff, Laura loves reading (psychology books are her fav), paddleboarding, baking and all things mindfulness and meditation. Fun fact: Laura adopted Wanda, whom she met at the airport while filming her intake. Love at first sight!

RUTH came to Save Our Scruff in 2021 as our Website Coordinator. As a long-time Instagram follower, she used to love engaging with Save Our Scruff’s mission all the way from the U.K. She wanted to get involved but because she was far away, she wasn’t sure how she could help out from across the ocean. Until of course she found her current role, which allows her to help make the charity’s online presence shine — remotely. She brought lots of experience building dog-related websites. In fact, the first website she ever built was related to her own dog, Ember.

In her spare time, Ruth loves taking her dog for walks, consuming all kinds of dog-related content (because who are we kidding, it’s never enough), building websites and listening to K-pop.
